Freeze-dried cranberries are the first ingredient. Adding cranberry to the diet has been shown to lower the pH of the urinary tract. In small herbivores this can help dissolve some forms of urinary sludge and stones that formed under the naturally high pH conditions (A 1 unit drop in pH can increase calcium carbonate solubility by 10 to 20x – essentially dissolving the stones!). However, of more significance is the ability of cranberry to inhibit bacterial adherence to cell walls thereby preventing or reducing infection.

Marshmallow Root provides diuretic properties to help flush the urinary tract. It also can fight infection and contains high levels of glucuronoxylan, a potent antioxidant that helps reduce inflammation in the mucus membranes of the urinary tract.

Vitamin C is beneficial to supplement with vitamin C during urinary tract infections. However, too much vitamin C can increase carbonate excretion. We use a moderate amount of shelf-stable vitamin C that is coated in cellulose fiber to exclude oxygen and preserve its biological function
